About Adespoto music taverna
The word “Adespoto” in Greek has many meanings and is used in a variety of different contexts. It means “without master”, “stray”, and is also used to talk about getting “caught in the crossfire”.
A place which is “adespoto” is “away” from others, a “particular” place.
Adespoto was originally founded in 2006 by two local musicians just next door to the current open-air taverna as a winter music venue, presenting well-known artists from all over Greece.
The following year, the “summer Adespoto” was started, using the shell of an old Venetian townhouse destroyed during World War II to create a “garden” live music venue. It simultaneously began serving food, thus becoming a live music restaurant.
During October 2012, Adespoto was one of the filming locations for the major film production The Two Faces of January, the directorial debut of the acclaimed screenwriter Hossein Amini, starring Kirsten Dunst, Viggo Mortensen and Oscar Isaac. The film was released in 2014.
